If I could choose just one thing, anything,
to do this afternoon, I would
choose a giant picnic rug
with lakeside views, I’d choose
pillars of books at each corner,
gateposts to our keep, I’d choose
a banquet of treats, a flask of coffee each,
binoculars to see beyond our reach,
though there they stay at rest beside our feet. I’d choose
a lazy picnic afternoon with you.
