Crow in the cold

Feathers bunched volcanically,
erupting in the cold,
hunched between the heaping frost
and creeping crunch of snow.

Beak and breast of charcoal
fading to the eye,
blurring as a sunrise
against the blanching sky.

Birds of black adorn the heads
of street lights just as hats,
ruffled raiment twitching,
frizzy in the freeze.

Feathers bunched volcanically,
defiant in the thaw,
hunched between the seeping frost
and squelchy slosh of snow.
